Moritz Jäger (1983), was born in Graubünden and lives in Zurich. He graduated from the University of Zurich with a Master of Arts. The creation of his art involves a very multi-layered process: For every artwork he usually produces two paintings (mostly in oil) and then cuts them into strips and weaves them into each other. His work reflects on the way the human brain perceives its surroundings and assigns significance to the objects in them. Our perception is very selective and fragmented. But still, in our minds we build it up to a seemingly whole picture or narrative. What results is not the reality, but an image of reality, fragmented, but still accomplished in its own right.
