Jean-Pierre Rick was born in 1989 in Geneva. Having obtained a Diploma in Philosophy at the University of Geneva, he never went to art school but trained himself by practicing graffiti and by experimenting with various techniques whilst always questioning the medium of paint and the support. Whether it is by using mushroom spores as ink or by mixing spray paint with oil paint, his work offers rich and varied textures. After having spray-painted thousands of walls in Geneva, Rick turned his attention to the canvas and brought with him techniques from the graffiti world. His work mainly features bodies and animals and mixes figurative and abstract elements. Using dreamlike images, Jean-Pierre Rick questions the concept of perception.
